Allen’s hummingbird, Selasphorus sasin. The range of this hummingbird is restricted to breeding on the far west coast of California and Oregon, wintering in a small portion of central Mexico. There are two subspecies, the other ranges islands off of southern California. Like other hummingbirds, the males are very colorful and have iridescent feathers, and have elaborate courtship flight patterns. They feed off nectar and small insects, and can be quite territorial and aggressive.
